85 per square foot Assume 100,000 square feet per floor, and the equipment cost (infrastructure only) is approximately $185,000 per floor Clients and software are approximately six times that, making the total equipment cost approximately $13 million Maintenance is approximately $75,000 per year, and the equipment typically remains in use for three years, with the maintenance contract renewing each year That brings the total equipment cost plus maintenance to $14 million, including 10 percent interest on the money borrowed for the equipment The hospital will take three years to pay off the equipment, which means a yearly cost of approximately $466,000, to resolve an annual productivity loss that costs the hospital approximately three times that You can see how that even with a quick calculation, which is effectively how the hospitals calculated this for a number of years, the solution is very cost effective.

A sponsor is an object that implements the ISponsor interface. This interface exposes only one method, Renewal, which is called by the lease manager when the lease of the remote object associated with the sponsor is about to expire. The Renewal method must return a TimeSpan value that specifies how long the object will live or return the value TimeSpan.Zero to refuse to extend the remote object s lifetime. A remote object

If you add the cost of litigation for even a single patient who was injured or died from lack of nurse productivity, you can see how strong the case is for pervasive wireless in a healthcare setting Efforts to reduce OPEX are often focused on simply reducing labor costs Labor cost reduction is often achieved by cutting back on hiring and compensation It can be an effective strategy, but more often than not it weakens the business by reducing morale and personnel quality and increasing work loads Investing in wireless connectivity to improve productivity often increases the vitality and profitability of.

Let s get down to business. I assume that you have a digital camera and know how to get the photos onto your hard drive. Of course, you may simply want to alter photos that were sent to you by email or found on the Net, but either way, you will need to open them up in your photo editor for manipulation. The quality of the images you plan to mess with should be fairly high to start with. A 320 200 pixel image saved as a low quality jpeg will be difficult to manipulate, since it will be blocky from the compression and look like an obvious fake when you start adding clean pixels of effect to it. Sure, you can save a faked image with low compression to add to the realism and hide some of the telltale signs of manipulation when you are finished with it, but in the beginning you must have a decent quality image or images to work with. Photos from your digital camera should be initially saved in high or medium quality to preserve color information and resolution. If you are borrowing photos or clipart from the Net, then search for high resolution images with dimensions of 640 480 or greater (Google lets you choose image size when looking for images).

The sample Marker module registers a couple of pipeline events. They are BeginRequest and EndRequest. BeginRequest is the first event that hits the HTTP application object when the request begins processing. EndRequest is the event that signals the request is going to be terminated, and it s your last chance to intervene. By handling these two events, you can write custom text to the output stream before and after the regular HTTP handler the Page-derived class. The following listing shows the implementation of the Init and Dispose methods for the sample module:

The INSERT query has an operator called a Constant Scan. A Constant Scan is a special operator in the relational algebra that generates rows without reading them from a table. If you are inserting a row into a table, it doesn t really have an existing table, so this operator creates a row for the insert operator to process. The Compute Scalar operation evaluates the values to be inserted. In our example, these are constants, but they could be arbitrary scalar expressions or scalar subqueries. Finally, the insert operator physically updates the primary key-clustered index. Figure 8-50 shows how UPDATE plans are represented.
