It is only necessary to include new character sets when new devices to be connected only support different character sets. Defining a new character set will be available for use in the spool system. There are two ways to associate a character set to a printer or to an output device. Enter the character set code in the device type definition, just as mentioned before. Select a character set code using the SAPscript print controls S0000 or SF<nnn>. When creating a character set, you have to enter the manufacturer name from the list of manufacturers. You can display this list by selecting the option Char. set manufacturers from the initial Spool Administration screen. If the manufacturer's name is not on the list, you can create it. From the List of manufacturers screen, click on the Create button. Enter the data for Manufacturer and a Short name and save your entries. The next step is to define the new character set itself. From the initial Spool Administration menu, select the Character sets push button. The system will display the List of character sets screen, as shown in Fig. 14 14.
