Hi, I need to read and parse a PDF file that has 50,000 pages. The "Save As" option within the Acrobat Reader is not of much use. The highly dynamic nature of the prototype mechanism can be both a curse and a blessing, as it can be difficult to learn and apply but powerful and robust when applied correctly. The dynamic nature is akin to the concept of polymorphism found in classical inheritance schemes. Two objects may share the same properties and functions, but the function methods may be completely different, and the properties may hold different data types. This polymorphism allows JavaScript objects to be generically handled by other scripts and functions. Figure 5-15 shows the prototype inheritance scheme at work. The script defines three classes of objects: Vehicle, SportsCar, and CementTruck. Vehicle is considered the base class from which the other two classes inherit. Vehicle defines two properties, wheelCount and curbWeightInPounds, that represent the Vehicle s number of wheels and total weight, respectively.
