To illustrate how to handle a callback from a Win32 API, consider the following example in C# that calls the EnumDateFormatsEx function. This function uses a callback to provide the caller with a list of available date formats. After consulting the Win32 documentation for this function, we determine that this function requires a callback that takes a string and integer and returns a bool. This callback function is given the name EnumDateFormatsProcEx in the API documentation. We start by declaring a delegate for this callback function in C# like this: //define the delegate for the callback public delegate bool EnumDateFormatsProcEx( string dateFormat, int calId); The actual Win32 function declaration looks like this: [DllImport("kernel32.DLL", SetLastError = true)] public static extern bool EnumDateFormatsEx( EnumDateFormatsProcEx callBackProc, int LCID, ulong flags); Notice that one of the calling arguments is the callback delegate.
