The workflow begins by reading four properties that have been promoted by the InfoPath form when the form is published: LastName, FirstName, LoanAmt, and Income. If the loan amount is greater than one million dollars or the income ratio (income to loan amount) is less than .3 and greater than .2 then it must be approved by a loan officer. The workflow will create a new task in a SharePoint task list for the loan officer. Creating the task will automatically email the loan officer a link to the task. The loan officer can either click that link or go directly to the task list to review it. A custom task form for the approval task will allow the loan officer to view the loan-application data and then either approve or reject the application when he reviews the task. If the loan application is approved it will continue through the workflow, calling the web service to insert a record into a SQL Server database. The last two steps in the workflow send a confirmation or rejection email to the applicant and log the current status of the workflow to a history list that tracks milestones throughout the workflow process. A loan application can also be approved or rejected without human intervention. If the ratio of loan amount to income is above .3 or the loan amount is less than one million dollars then the loan is automatically approved. If neither of those conditions is meet, the loan is automatically rejected.
