Apr 17, 2014 · If you search for Java and OCR you will variously find: Tesseract (http://tess4j.sourceforge.net/). This is a de facto standard, BUT it's C(++) wrapped in Java. That will be a nightmare to redistribute.

I chose Flash because of its animation tools and its capability to manipulate shapes Because I m not designing for the Web, I don t worry about file size I simply use Flash as an animator s tool to get what I want (Richard was kind enough to permit us to include the SWF s of several scenes from his groundbreaking animated short, The Journal of Edwin Carp You ll find them on the CD-ROM, in the Bazley folder, which is nested within the ch37 folder if you refer to them as you read this tutorial, many of the principles that Richard describes will become much more clear).

A microcontroller sometimes needs to handle wide, multiple-byte data, such as a large counter. Since the data width of PicoBlaze is 8 bits, processing this type of data requires a mechanism to propagate information between two successive instructions. PicoBlaze uses the carry flag for this purpose. For the arithmetic instructions, there are two versions for addition and subtraction, one with carry and one without carry, as in the add and addcy instructions. For the shift and rotate instructions, carry can be shifted into the MSB or LSB of a register, and vice versa. Assume that x and y are 24-bit data and each occupies three registers. The following code segment illustrates the use of carry in multiple-byte addition:

Because lookups are actually preferable in some (increasingly rare) cases, you should be sure to read the following section so you understand the differences between lookups and relationships..

The text field on the left below the Set the font style text field is the Set the font size text field. You type the desired point size (from 0.1 point to 1296 points in increments of .001 point), and any selected characters increase or decrease to that particular point size. Next to the Set the font size text field, you find a menu triangle, which lists the standard point sizes available. The point size for type is always measured from the top of the ascenders to the bottom of the descenders. You can increase or decrease the point size with the keyboard by typing Ctrl+Shift+> ( +Shift+>) to increase and Ctrl+Shift+< ( +Shift+<) to decrease the point size by the increment specified in the Preferences dialog box. Figure 9.19 shows the results of changing the font size of various individual characters using the keyboard commands.

The HEP (orHENP, for high-energy and nuclear physics) problems are the most dataintensive known. Hundreds to thousands of scientist-developers around the world continually develop software to better select candidate physics signals, better calibrate the detector and better reconstruct the quantities of interest (energies and decay vertices of particles such as electrons, photons and muons, as well as jets of particles from quarks and gluons). The globally distributed ensemble of facilities, while large by any standard, is less than the physicists require to do their work in an unbridled way. There is thus a need, and a drive to solve the problem of managing global resources in an optimal way, in order to maximize the potential of the major experiments for breakthrough discoveries. In order to meet these technical goals, priorities have to be set, the system has to managed and monitored globally end-to-end, and a new mode of human Grid interactions has to be developed and deployed so that the physicists, as well as the Grid system itself, can learn to operate optimally to maximize the work ow through the system. Developing an effective set of trade-offs between high levels of resource utilization, rapid turnaround time, and matching resource usage pro les to the policy of each scienti c collaboration over the long term presents new challenges (new in scale and complexity) for distributed systems.

To create a new pop-up you can call the static method createPopUp(). The createPopUp() method requires at least three parameters a reference to the MovieClip (or component) instance into which you want to add the pop-up, a reference to the class (in this case, Window) for the pop-up, and a Boolean indicating whether the pop-up should be modal. You can also pass the createPopUp() method an init object (see 14 for more information on init objects). There is also a fifth, optional parameter that allows you to specify whether or not events occur when the user clicks outside the pop-up, but it is seldom used, and so we will not discuss it here. The createPopUp() method returns a reference to the new Window that is created. Here s an example that creates a new pop-up with content from a MovieClip symbol with linkage identifier MessageSymbol.
