This message is sent when a change to the action cards occurs, like when the player makes a valid drop or the dealer s stack image is clicked. This is necessary because of that annoying no shared state thing again! So, this message is sent and along with it comes the list of cardDescriptors describing the action cards. Before anything is done with them, the interval calling gameLoop() is cleared. It would be a shame to try to execute the opponent s logic while the action cards are changing! In reality this probably isn t possible anyway due to JavaScript being single-threaded, but I m not 100 percent sure if Gears opens up any possibilities in that area, and I certainly can t count on future browsers not doing that. So I figure it s safer to clear the interval and not have to worry about it. The code here then takes the cardDescriptors sent in, pushes them onto the internal actionCards, and restarts the interval. Similarly, the update_opponent_cards message does the same thing for the cards the opponent is holding. This message is sent when the opponent makes a valid drop and the Worker has told the external code about it. The external code does some work, which results in the opponent s cards being updated, and then sends this message, along with the cardDescriptors for the opponent s cards.
