The reason this code is so simple is because remoting is doing all the hard work. Remoting automatically deserializes the objects passed in as parameters, and serializes the objects being returned as results. If an exception occurs on the server, remoting automatically serializes the exception and returns it to the client instead of the normal result. As you ll see, not all network technologies make things quite so simple. 8 will show how to host the RemotingPortal in IIS and use it from a client. The following steps summarize the process: 1.
