The hdiutil command will prompt for a blank disk to burn. Alternatively, you may want to convert the image file to a more compatible format, perhaps to facilitate mass duplication of the optical media on non-Macintosh systems. Because the ISO format provides a burnable, platform-agnostic image file, it s a commonly used choice for this type of task. To take the MacBook.dmg file from the current working directory and convert it into an ISO image, use the convert verb and specify the -format flag along with an output destination.

Create a new VB State Machine Workflow Console Application called VBStateActivitiesConsoleApplication In previous chapters you set the default state the one that was already created when the workflow was created as the completed state Instead, this time drag and drop a StateInitialization activity from the toolbar onto the default State activity Remember, you must house the StateInitialization, StateFinalization, and SetState activities inside a State activity Click the State activity and open the properties Set the name to be State1 While on the Properties page, click the SetToInitialState link This makes the State1 activity the first activity to be fired when the workflow is entered Every State Machine workflow must have an initial state Next, click the StateInitialization activity within the State1 activity (called stateInitializationActivity1) and click the properties page Change the name to Initialization1 Double-click the Initialization1 activity.

When we build applications for the web using ASP.NET, we need to have the ASP.NET runtime installed. This background process is constantly running on the web server listening for requests that require its services. You can see this process running in your task manager as aspnet_wp.exe (ASP.NET worker process). When the web server receives a request, that is, for an ASP.NET item such as an .aspx page or an .asmx web service, it forwards the request to the ASP.NET worker process because that is the process registered as knowing how to handle such requests. If you use Task Manager by right-clicking your program bar, you can see aspnetwp.exe in the list of processes. A program registered to handle web requests like this is known as an Internet Services Application Programming Interface (ISAPI). The worker process then parses the page being requested and processes any server-side script that is necessary to derive the final page output (the response), including any code associated with the page (e.g., C#, VB .NET, etc.). In the upcoming chapters, you will learn in more detail about the request and response and how ASP.NET allows you to interact with the request and response. This chapter has only really exposed the tip of the iceberg.

This opens that activity within a new window that s dedicated just to that activity You can see the breadcrumb at the top left of the window (Workflow1:State1) This shows you where you are within the workflow structure This view allows you to add activities to the StateInitialization activity (Initialization1) more easily Although the StateInitialization activity is a container for other activities, you don t need to add activities To show this, debug the workflow You see a console application window pop up, but nothing more happens That s because there are no activities that perform work within the workflow at the moment The workflow would also never leave State1 because there s no SetState activity to move the workflow execution to another state Add a Code activity to the Initialization1 called Code1 Generate Handlers for the Code activity, and within the Code1_ExecuteCode sub add Msgbox("code1").

The code for this sub is as follows: Private Sub Code1_ExecuteCode(ByVal sender As SystemObject, ByVal e As SystemEventArgs) MsgBox("Code1") End Sub Add a StateFinalization activity from the Toolbox to the workflow You ll notice you can t drop the activity within the Initialization1 activity Instead, you need to right-click the workflow surface and choose Back to State Composition View You were in a view that was dedicated to the Initialization1 activity Once you re back to the State Composition View, you can then drop a StateFinalization activity called Finalization1 within the State1 activity When you doubleclick the Finalization1 activity, you ll be back to the previous view that s specific to the Finalization1 activity Drop a SetState activity from the Toolbox into the Finalization1 activity Again, you ll find you can t do this At first, this doesn t seem to make sense.
