Only merge selected sections: In our merge operation we always merged all of the sections. An interesting option would be to display the list of sections as check boxes, letting the user decide which ones should be included in the merged document. This change would be implemented in the merge custom-application page. Run with elevated privileges: In this solution the user who is splitting the document would receive an Access Denied message if he chose to create a new library and didn t have enough permission to do so. There is a way to work around this to elevate the security level of the running code above that of the current user s for just enough time to complete the desired operation. The key to this technique is the SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges method. We have included a link to an article about this technique in the Further Reading section. Remove section libraries on deactivation: The solution included a feature receiver for running code in response to the activation and deactivation of the feature. If desired, you could use this class to delete the section libraries when the feature is deactivated.
