EZView is a small, unobtrusive, convenient jQuery image & PDF viewer plugin that opens and displays image and PDF files in a fullscreen modal popup. GuestListService is a fine-grained service with only one method to implement. I have had many arguments with fellow architects regarding the best practice for building services. The argument is almost always tied to the granularity of the business components located in the service. In large-scale enterprise systems, having a single service for every business function can become overwhelming if you have a service tied to each entity. For example, having a GuestListService that implements createGuestList(), retrieveGuestList(), updateGuestList(), and deleteGuestList() would be preferable. Most services we create will have the standard create, retrieve, update, and delete (CRUD) methods and custom methods needed to resolve that unit of business functionality. On the other side of that coin is the bad practice of congregating all service methods into one service. This is not modular and creates a maintenance mess. Not only that, it does not properly define the units of business functionality to a degree of granularity that logically represents what the service is meant to do. That said, I feel there is a fine line when creating services. They should always represent how the units of business functionality have been divided among the various business units. Most services I build contain the CRUD aspects of multiple business units (of course, only the ones that logically fit together).
