In addition to fields and methods, the introduction mechanism provided by AspectJ allows you to modify the inheritance and implementation hierarchies defined in an application. The declare parents keyword combination permits this. The following aspect adds the AddDateItf interface to the Order class and creates an inheritance link between AddDateImpl and Order: public aspect AddDate2 { declare parents: Order implements AddDateItf; declare parents: Order extends AddDateImpl; } The addition of a new interface is always possible since there are no constraints in Java on the number of interfaces implemented by a class.
